JUDAISM

Explore Judaism with Nesi through the Torah, Psalms, Jewish history, biblical prophets and the importance of Jerusalem in Jewish tradition.

Judaism

Explore Judaism, its sacred writings, history, prophets and deep connection with Jerusalem.

Judaism is one of the world’s oldest monotheistic religions and has profoundly influenced both Christianity and Islam. Its scriptures, traditions and history include many of the people and places that are also important throughout the wider Abrahamic faith tradition.

On Nesi.ca, I explore Judaism through sacred texts, history, travel and personal study, with particular attention to the Torah, Psalms, biblical prophets and Jerusalem.

Torah

The Torah is at the heart of Judaism and contains the Five Books of Moses: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.

Explore its stories, commandments and teachings, including accounts of creation, Abraham, Moses, the Exodus and the journey of the Israelites.

Psalms

The Psalms are a collection of biblical prayers, songs and poetry expressing praise, thanksgiving, sorrow, hope and trust in God.

Many Psalms are traditionally associated with King David. They have played an important role in Jewish prayer and worship for centuries and later became equally influential within Christianity.

Jewish History

Explore Jewish history from the biblical period and ancient Israel through the history of Jerusalem, the First and Second Temple periods and the development of Jewish communities across the world.

Understanding this history also provides important background for many people, places and events described in the Bible.

Prophets

The prophets have an important place in Jewish scripture and tradition.

Discover biblical figures and prophetic teachings associated with Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and other prophets whose messages addressed faith, justice, repentance, hope and the relationship between people and God.

Jerusalem in Judaism

Jerusalem holds a central place in Jewish history, prayer and religious tradition.

The city is associated with King David, King Solomon and the First and Second Temples. The Temple Mount and the Western Wall remain deeply significant places within Judaism.

Jerusalem is also one of the places where the histories of Judaism, Christianity and Islam meet, making the city an important part of my own journey and study of the Abrahamic faiths.
