ABOUT NESI

About Nesi

My name is Nesi. I spent most of my life in Germany before settling in Edmonton, Canada, in 2025. My journey has been shaped by faith, music and travels around the world.

Before making Edmonton my home, I traveled extensively across the United States and Canada, including New York, Philadelphia, Lancaster County, Pittsburgh, Indiana, Chicago, Minnesota and Toronto. I was drawn to Edmonton by its beautiful river valley, the combination of nature and downtown life, and the lively atmosphere of Whyte Avenue.

I was born on the Black Sea coast of Turkey, in a region historically associated with Pontus. Perhaps this is one reason I have always felt a special connection to Greek music and culture.

Germany is the country where I grew up and spent most of my life, while Turkey is also an important part of my background. But after traveling to so many places and meeting people from different cultures, I increasingly came to see myself simply as a citizen of planet Earth.

Every country I have visited has left something in my soul.

My Spiritual Journey

My spiritual journey began during a difficult period in my life.

I turned more deeply toward God and began practicing Islam more seriously. I also started learning the basics of Arabic so that I could better understand the Quran. My life began to change for the better.

Later, when I faced new difficulties, I found myself searching for deeper answers. I prayed in mosques and studied the Quran, but I also began asking myself whether there was more I needed to understand.

As a Muslim, I already believed in Jesus and the previous prophets and scriptures. This led me to study Christianity more closely. I began visiting churches, reading the Bible and learning about the life and teachings of Jesus.

Instead of weakening my faith, this exploration expanded my understanding of it.

I began seeing connections between the Quran, Bible and other sacred writings. I wanted to understand what united these traditions rather than concentrating only on what separated them.

My search eventually took me even further. In Vienna, Austria, I visited a synagogue and prayed there. Judaism fascinated me because of its foundational place within the Abrahamic traditions.

But I was still searching for something.

My Journey to Jerusalem

During this period, I spent a great deal of time hiking and thinking. One idea kept returning to me: Jerusalem.

Could the Holy Land—the land associated with so many prophets—help me find what I was looking for?

At first, traveling there seemed unrealistic. I was worried about conflict and safety. But deep inside, I felt that I needed to go.

Eventually, my journey took me to Israel and Palestine.

Jerusalem was different from what I had imagined. Despite the complicated history and tensions of the region, I experienced moments of extraordinary peace.

I visited places sacred to Judaism, Christianity and Islam, including the Western Wall, the Temple Mount/Haram al-Sharif, Masjid Al-Aqsa, the Dome of the Rock, the Mount of Olives, Gethsemane, Bethlehem, Jericho and other historic religious sites.

Walking through places connected with prophets, generations of believers and centuries of prayer had a profound effect on me.

I felt close to God.

I felt guided.

And I felt that my journey had brought me there for a reason.

I have since traveled to Jerusalem three times. Each journey has strengthened my personal connection with the city and its spiritual significance.

Bethany Beyond the Jordan

Another important part of my journey took me across the Jordan River to Jordan.

I visited Mount Nebo, traditionally associated with Moses looking toward the Promised Land, and Bethany Beyond the Jordan, traditionally identified with the baptism of Jesus.

At the Jordan River, I touched the water with my hands and feet and washed my face and arms.

I experienced something there that is difficult for me to describe.

I felt an extraordinary spiritual presence, and I saw a white dove descending. Personally, I understood this experience as a sign of the Holy Spirit and God’s presence.

Whether others interpret such an experience in the same way is not important to me. What matters is the transformation it created within me.

One God – A Journey Through Different Faiths

Through these experiences, I came to believe that I should not allow religious labels to prevent me from learning from God’s messengers and sacred traditions.

My personal spiritual path now draws from Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

I study the Torah, Psalms, Gospel and Quran and look for the principles they share: faith in God, prayer, repentance, compassion, justice, humility, forgiveness and peace.

I believe that God sent prophets and messengers to guide humanity and that we can learn from their lives.

Moses, Abraham, David, Jesus, Muhammad and many others faced extraordinary challenges. Their stories continue to offer lessons for people facing difficulties today.

My goal is not to tell people what they must believe. I want to encourage people to seek God sincerely, study for themselves and discover the wisdom contained within the sacred traditions.

Music by Nesi

Music became another important part of this journey.

At first, I used music to motivate myself. Over time, it grew into a passion for inspiring and connecting with other people.

Today, I perform cover songs from Europe, the Middle East and around the world. I enjoy singing music from different cultures and languages because music can connect people who might otherwise see themselves as very different.

I also write and adapt songs inspired by my own journey, the Psalms and stories from the lives of God’s messengers.

Through music, I want to share messages of faith, peace, freedom and hope.

My Education and Background

Before this spiritual journey became such an important part of my life, my background was very different.

I studied Mechanical engineering in Karlsruhe, Germany, and worked for Mercedes in engineering and development.

I also studied Theology at the University in Tübingen, Germany. During that period, I became particularly interested in examining difficult questions surrounding religion.

I wanted to understand why religion can transform people’s lives positively while, at the same time, religious ideas can sometimes be misunderstood, misused or associated with extremism.

This curiosity eventually developed into a broader interest in religious history, Christianity, Judaism, Islam and the relationships between different traditions.

My spiritual travels have taken me to places including Mecca, southeastern Turkey, Jordan, Jerusalem, Andalusia in southern Spain, the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain, Taizé in France, and Amish communities in the United States and Canada.

After everything I have seen, if someone asks me which place affected me most, my answer is simple:

Jerusalem.

My Life in Edmonton

Today, I am based in Edmonton, Canada.

Alongside my music and website projects, I work as a painter and run a car key business.

My experiences have taught me that life can take unexpected directions. Engineering, travel, religion, music and entrepreneurship may seem unrelated, but each has become part of my journey.

And that journey continues.
